UPDATED POST: Here is the video from my JUMP!

Click here to view the embedded video.

Today my wife and I are going to jump off a building

We’re just pulling into Auckland, NZ, where they have what’s called the “Sky Tower Jump”…

We’ll be falling at over 50 miles/hour from 629 feet (192 meters…yes I am slowly getting accustomed to the metric system)

…and I’m SO EXCITED!! (I’m hoping I can record it and post the video when we get back!)

But just a few years ago when I went sky-diving out of a plane for the first time – I was TERRIFIED!

The whole ride up in the plane, my body was shaking …and I ALMOST didn’t jump….

Question: Have you ever been at a new jumping off point in your life that SCARED you to death?

Whether it’s a new job, or a new business, or a new move, or experience?

Because I get it – I’ve been there too – many, many times.

It can be HARD and SCARY to step out into the void, to put yourself out of your comfort zone – and CHANGE and TRY something NEW!

What always helps me (and might help you)

Is to have SOMEONE who can SUPPORT with your leap of faith – someone who is behind you, who has maybe been there before, who believes in you and is there to support you!

(that’s why my wife’s coming with me today as we do the sky tower jump TOGETHER – she’s always wanted to go sky diving, but couldn’t ever get up the nerve to go – so maybe if I’m there with her today, I can help her out!)

And if you haven’t had a chance to read my book yet…

Click here to go download it now!

It’s all about making changes, overcoming your fears, and CREATING the life of your dreams…

But MOSTLY it’s about my journey and the MISTAKES I made along the way – so maybe I can be a support for you as you get to take that leap of faith and start creating YOUR OWN path!

So make sure you go download and read it now!

And I’ll be right here cheering and supporting YOU in YOUR journey, just as I’ll be cheering for my wife today, as we do of the “Sky Jump” together today!

Until next time – Drive It! Love it! Live it!

Adam

Well it’s the first week of the new year, and I’m writing this post form the balcony of our beach house here in Australia!

So much has happened since my last post…

Moved my family across the world to Australia to live by the beach

Started to learn how to surf when we stayed in Manly Beach in Sydney for 2 weeks

Pet a Koala

Had a Kangaroo eat out of my hand

Swam with 5 dolphins and 1 sting ray

Toured all around Sydney – the museums, the zoo, the bridge and harbor (loved it!)

Spent days at the beach with my family

Learned how to drive on the LEFT hand side of the road…

Celebrated our first foreign Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years as a family

Manly Beach!

All while getting our lives set up here in Australia (getting the Internet ONLY took a month and a half to finally get connected….thank you Telstra…), completely redesigning my website (like the new look?) and growing my businesses (thank you SKYPE!)

We have plans to adventure all around Australia in the coming months, and have a trip to explore New Zealand at the end of the month

We had an amazing time here in Australia – all the people have been so good to us, friendly and welcoming. Even though the internet took quite a bit longer to setup here than we were expecting, the move and transition has been rather smooth for us…as far as moving to new countries go.

The kids and the family have had a blast – we had a great first foreign Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years! They celebrate Christmas and New Years here
like we celebrate July 4th back in the U.S. – having BBQ’s, playing on the beach and in the water - we’ve really enjoyed the holidays (minus being away from extended
family) The kids have been missing the snow a little bit, but theywere still able to pull out their mattresses and “sled” down our stairs. I told them that this year we were going to have a “White Sand” Christmas..and they’ve loved every minute of it!

First Day Surfing!

And with it being the beginning of 2012 – everyone is thinking and talking about 2012 goals and resolutions for the new year

And the question that I find many people (including myself) are asking themselves is:

“In spite of all the problems and turmoil in the world right now -
HOW can I make 2012 the BEST year EVER?”

The answer?

Create more value for other people than you ever have before

Align your life with your purpose and passions more than you ever have before, and

Those are 2 simple questions, but they can be difficult to answer for some people often because we

A – Don’t yet identify the true value that we can create for other people
B – Don’t have a clear understanding of our Purpose

And if you haven’t watch my free ”Its Your Life Videos” yet – then I HIGHLY recommend you head over there RIGHT NOW and check them out, because they will help you get clear on those 2 questions!

I recently had a very close friend write me an email and ask me a question – he wrote me an email that said

“I have an extra 20-30 hours a week and I was looking at doing something online to make some extra money. I did a search for how to make money online but rather than sift through the scams I thought I would see if you know of any companies out there. Let me know if you have any businesses you recommend or any to stay away from as well. Thanks!”

I thought it was a GREAT question – that I know so many people have, so with his permission I’m going to share with you the answer that I sent to him – in hoping that it can possible create value and help you or someone you know who might have the same question!

For making money online – that is the billion dollar question isn’t it?

Like I have said before, I do NOT recommend 99.99999% of the “make money at home” programs out there – there’s a LOT of garbage and scams out there….push button systems and softwares, sleek salespages and salesvideos that end up promising the world, and delivering nothing but empty promises and headaches.

Seeing the current trends of millions of people coming online every day, and the internet becoming an increasingly effective tool at growing businesses online – If you’re looking get started building a business online in 2012- here’s what I would suggest:

First – you need 3 things

1. A converting offer to promote that creates TRUE VALUE for the target market (offer)
2. An audience to promote it to (audience)
3. A way to market the offer to that audience (marketing channel)

Ideally – you would want it to be:

A. A subject that you are passionate about and believe in
B. A product/market that aligns with your purpose and leverages your personal strengths/ability and
C. An offer and an audience that would have some synergies with your other businesses – so that you can have a bit of leverage and crossover with what you are already doing – this is nice to have as it make it easier for you to get started because you’re able to transfer momentum from your previous/current businesses/ventures to your new venture online – but it is not completely necessary.

That being said – here are some ideas or examples of putting it all together

Since it’s much easier/faster/cheaper to promote someone else’s EXISTING product – the fastest way to get started is affiliate marketing – find a product to promote, and then go around and promote it to your audience, and earning a commission.

So – the question is – what products do you want to promote and what kind of audience do you want to target? What are the current assets
and relationships that you can leverage? For example, if you wanted to target business owners (audience) – a few great value products to promote (offers) could be

-Aweber Email Autoresponder – I’ve been promoting this since I started my business online, and I get a check each month from them!
- Free Website With Hosting - This is an incredible value and amazing value where you can get a free $2000 website just for setting up your domain and hosting account!

You get the idea – there are hundreds of different offers out there - you just need to find an offer that creates INCREDIBLE VALUE!

So going along with this example – the 3rd ingredient is a way to market the offers to your audience (business owners) – the goal is to eventually build a database of your target audience – and then you can send the offers directly to your audience (via email and/or mail)

If you don’t currently have the 3rd element (marketing channel to your target audience) – then the fastest way is in paid traffic – that way
you’re instantly able to step in and get access to your target audience – there are a number of paid marketing channels online – the first one I would recommend is Facebook Ads because the demographics are SO targeted (age, religion, interests, likes, college, work,
etc…) – you can access a lot of people very quickly and affordably ($0.05 – $0.15 per click) – and I have training on this if you want to
look into learning how to setup and run facebook ads – this takes a bit of a marketing budget initially to invest in traffic – not a lot - you can start with as little as $100 and grow it from them. If you are smart and work at it, you can grow your cash quite quickly.

Another idea might be to target consumers (audience) and create some leverage/synergy with your other activities/businesses

Places like http://www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork/ and http://www.cj.com/publisher have thousands of consumer offers if you sign up as a publisher.

Again you could use facebook ads to target this audience as well.

I have 4 main training programs that I highly recommend if you’re looking for incredible learning/training resources (and most of these are FREE or VERY low cost):

Paid to Play Academy - Garrett J. White is one of my closest brothers, friends and mentors – I’ve gone through all the training in the Paid to Play Academy – and it is the best training program I have every seen (and I’ve seen a LOT of them!) over 24 hours of AWESOME content and training, and you can try it all out for 7 days just for $2.97 – biggest bargain and no-brainer I have ever seen!

Tony Litster’s Creation Mastermind - this is one of the BEST courses I have ever been through on goal setting and goal getting – it’s an amazing 12 week course to start 2012 with – and best of all it is free!

James Schramko’s Super Fast Results Forum – I just had a BBQ at his house a few weeks ago when we were in Sydney – he’s a class act and a great guy to know! He has some AWESOME training on affiliate marketing and traffic generation, and you can get his Internet Marketing Speed Report - for FREE!

Other good people/blogs/podcasts that I follow:

http://paidtoplay.tv/
http://www.therisetothetop.com/
http://www.clay-collins.com/
http://www.davidrisley.com/
http://tropicalmba.com/
http://freedomocean.com/
http://www.marketingshow.com/

Almost ALL of the programs and websites I’ve put here are FREE – I ENCOURAGE you to go check them out right now and try them out! And if you really like their free program, I would highly recommend that you show your appreciation and consider purchasing one of their other paid programs if it can assist you in your life or business in some way right now.

These are all people that I have personally spent time going through their training, and investing in their programs – and they are constantly and consistently creating more value for the people around them!

At the end of the day it takes time, energy and money to make it work. If you don’t have as much money, then it will take more time and energy. If you have more money, it will take less time and energy.

It took me 2 years, thousands of hours, and over $100k in investing in my own education and training to get where I am right now – and I don’t
want you to have to go through the same learning curve that I went through – it could have been a lot faster and a lot cheaper if I knew back then what I know now

It is my goal in 2012 – to be able to create more value for you and millions of people all of the world than I ever have before, while living my life in alignment with my purpose and passions

So how can I help create more value for you starting today?

I’d love to hear your comments and feedback!

What can I do in 2012 to create MORE value for you?

What is your primary goal for 2012?

What things can YOU do in 2012 to create more value for the people around you?

The best is yet to come!!

I’ve always loved this commercial – Richard Dreyfuss did the voiceover for the original commercial that aired, but just watching this version that Steve Jobs narrated back in 1997 (which never aired) makes the message even more powerful with his passing a few days ago.

The transcript for the video as follows;

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Click here to view the embedded video.

Steve Jobs was a crazy one, a visionary, a leader. He definitely saw things differently – from Pixar, to the iPod, iPhone, iPad and more – he changed multiple industries, created entirely new cultures, and revolutionized the technology and business landscape as we know it today.

He lead and inspired companies, industries, mac fans and the world to be better

By living his core purpose path, Steve inspired others around him to play a bigger game.

It reminds my of one of my favorite quotes by Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson.

Perhaps he didn’t know it when he recorded this commercial, but that as he read those words, he was describing his own future legacy.

When Steve Jobs recorded this back in 1997 – there was no iPod, iTunes, App store, iPhone, iPad, Macbook or OSX, and Apple certainly wasn’t the largest company in the world.

In 1997 Steve Jobs had just returned to Apple – after being forced to resign from Apple 12 years earlier – he had founded Pixar and NeXT during those years

He came back to a struggling Apple, and stepped in as CEO for a critical turnaround. His next 14 years serving as CEO – he would take Apple to dominate the world of technology, music, entertainment and publication to become the biggest company in the world by thinking and doing things differently.

He stated this to the audience at the 1997 MacWorld expo just a few months after returning to Apple:

“If we want to move forward and see Apple healthy and prospering again, we have to let go of a few things here. We have to let go of this notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose. We have to embrace a notion that for Apple to win, Apple has to do a really good job. And if others are going to help us that’s great, because we need all the help we can get, and if we screw up and we don’t do a good job, it’s not somebody else’s fault, it’s our fault.“

Steve knew that success for Apple was not as much about comparing and competing, as it was about doing a really good job at being the best Apple they could be – and being accountable that it would not be someone else’s fault if they failed – it would be their own fault.

When it comes right down to it, each of us are not competing against anyone else – we are all living our soul purpose journey being the best we each can be in our own unique ways.

How are you changing things?

How are you thinking and doing things differently?

How are you creating your own path and making a difference?

How are you living your core purpose and leaving your legacy?

Leave your comments below!

Below is Steve Job’s “How to Live Before You Die” Commencement Speech he made in 2005 at Stanford – great speech from a great man.

So… we’re moving to Australia

We just got our plane tickets, and our visas came last week!

We have a timeshare for the first 2 weeks of October, that we are going to fly down and find a place to rent

We’ve been looking at home rentals in Sydney or Adelaide (Annie is leaning toward Adelaide, and I’m leaning towards Sydney….so we’ll probably compromise and find a place in Adelaide)

So why Australia?

Well….why not?

My wife and close friends know me for a phrase I say on a regular basis – “Let’s go to the beach!”

And for the past 6 months or so we have been talking about moving to the beach – we looked at the San Diego area first, but then decided to be a little more adventurous and try out a new country

Our kids are ages 1, 3, and 5 – so they are still pretty flexible and easy with travel – and they’re getting pretty excited about seeing some koalas and kangaroos.

We are going to Sydney first, but we want to explore some of the major cities in Australia – Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide — and we also have planned to visit several other countries — New Zealand, Fiji, Philippines and Indonesia

As we decided to make this jump – we’ve had to figure a lot of things out

Passports and Visas – We had already purchased passports for our kids earlier this year, because we were anticipating traveling internationally. We looked and decided to do a 12 month tourist visa with Australia. Since my US-based businesses will continue to operate, I can work online as needed in Australia, and don’t need a working visa in Australia since I won’t be earning money in Australia – about $500 for our 5 visas (e676 tourist visa)

Housing – We’ve been able to rent out our house here in the US, and we’ve been searching for furnished housing rentals in Australia for $300-$1000 per week. We’d like to stay in the $500/week range so that we can spend our money more on trips to other cities/countries, adventures and really exploring

Cell Phones – We’re going to be porting our AT&T cell phones over to google voice numbers, Cancel our current AT&T cell phone contracts ($300 termination fee), getting a skype international calling plan, and we’ll probably get pay-as-you-go mobile phone plans when we get to Australia (friends have recommended Telstra, and we’re also looking at Vodafone)

Cars – we sold one of our cars, and are letting family use our Suburban while we are gone. We’re planning on renting/leasing a car when we get there – we’re not sure exactly what this looks like, but we’ll work on figuring it out during the first 2 weeks when we are in Sydney. We understand we can drive just fine with our Drivers License (although we need to renew my wife’s driver’s license this week, as it is set to expire in the next few months)

Our Stuff – we bought a trailer and packed everything we could into the trailer, and then sold all the rest of our stuff that didn’t fit. I never knew that selling our stuff would feel so good – talk about liberating! Makes you realize that you really don’t need all that “stuff.” We’re going to take whatever we can fit in our luggage on the airline ride.

Flights – we’ve been looking for flights for a few months – found a good deal with Air New Zealand, and we upgraded for the “sky couch” – which gives us an extra seat and extra room for the kids. We fly through Auckland, and then Auckland to Sydney – leaving at about 9:30 pm PST, and arriving 2 days later in Sydney round 10:30 am. Total plane ticket cost for 5 people, 2 adults and 3 kids- $4365. Plus I had a ton of credit card points, so I got $1850 off the ticket – so it ended up being about $2515 for 5 plane tickets one way to Sydney – pretty good deal if you ask me.

Medical /Dental – since we have private health insurance, we called our health insurance company and they offer in-network benefits for us in Australia. We can get prescriptions ahead of time before we leave the country, and all of us are going to take a quick visit to the dentist before we leave.

We’re still going to figure out a lot of things when we get there – and we’re excited to go on this adventure together.

If you’re interested in traveling (like I am) and want to find ways to get travel deals – a cool guy to know is Chris Guillebeau - I really enjoy his blog and books, and have been a member of his Travel Hacking Cartel for about a year now. I’ve been able to rack up a ton of mileage points and travel tips from him – including 2 free roundtrip tickets to London, and lots of skymiles

I definitely recommend checking out the Travel Hacking Cartel

Have you ever driven on a freshly paved road or a new highway?

At first the road is nice and smooth and new.

But then as the tires pound the pavement, sun and the snow beat down expanding and contracting the cement and asphalt – cracks begin to emerge. Stress fractures on the roadway surface.

These cracks are small at first. A few here and there – nothing big. Then a pothole or two.

Left unrepaired, the road goes from cracked to crumbling – we are seeing this right now

Governments bankrupt and currencies evaporating.

Bank and retirement accounts plunging.

Businesses failing and fighting to stay above water

Death and disease in our body and mind

Families losing their homes as they struggle to survive

Education systems with rocketing tuitions and unemployed graduates with overwhelming student loans.

The modern marvels and technological advancement, we have also created the most overweight, in-debt, medicated society in the history of the world.

The old rules of the game keep us on the crumbling path of security. The path that tells us that the answers are outside of us and that security comes from external validation.

That security comes from __________ (pick one and fill in the blank – more money, a bigger house, a faster car, good grades, a degree, a resume, your job title (or just having any job), business, retirement check, bank account, credit cards, government, Social security or medicare, because I have my house paid off, because I have no debt, because I’m in the technology industry, retirement account, disability or unemployment checks….and the list goes on and on)

How often have you been told these things? Or said them to yourself and believed them?

External “security” is a false counterfeit to internal certainty.

At its core – security is about hiding. It’s about shrinking instead of expanding.

We are told to stay on this path of security - conform, fit in, stick with it – and yet as we look the path is literally crumbling before our eyes for current and future generations.

There are 4 primary roadblocks that keep us from living our Core Purpose:

Roadblock # 1: Sacrifice

Sacrifice – is giving up who you really are now for something else. We sacrifice our soul purpose by pleasing, performing, perfecting and proving to other people. We sacrifice our soul purpose by trying to fit in and be something that we are not. We sacrifice our dreams by saying “I am going to delay doing X because I need to do Y.” The list of “shoulds” – that we “should” do something different than what and who we really are.

The false belief that if I sacrifice my life now, I will live my life later.

Truth: by sacrificing my life now, I am choosing to sacrifice my life, calling and core purpose forever

Roadblock # 2: Suppression and Shame

Suppression – is the act of covering, hiding or burying a desire or feeling – Suppression stems from cynicism, fear and a belief that we have to hide in order to be loved or accepted. We suppress our dreams and “lead lives of quiet desperation.”

Suppression and Shame are both forms of hiding. We cannot be our true and full selves. I have to hide to be accepted, loved and paid. I have to change who I am to be who others want or expect or tell me to be. I am supposed to be something other than myself.

Roadblock # 3: Scarcity and Entitlement

Entitlement is expecting something without doing anything

Scarcity is the fear that there is not enough

Both Scarcity and Entitlement stem from a not having and a lack of creation – when we are not creating we experience scarcity and entitlement

I don’t have X because there is not enough Y

So I deserve and am owed _____

I am entitled because I am _____ (special, smart, rich, poor, white, black, tall, short, different, same, a citizen, a loyal employee, a graduate, an MBA, older, younger, better, worse, ugly, beautiful, etc…).

Scarcity and entitlement tell us it’s ok to point the finger blame and criticize. They are both excuses for us not accepting our own responsibility to create.

Roadblock # 4: Sedation

Sedation – is when we soften, numb, and deaden feelings of pain or discomfort.

Life is tough and painful and difficult – so we escape through sedation: numbing and dulling and removing the pain so that we feel nothing. We escape and sedate through video games, TV, Facebook/Internet, drugs, alcohol, sex, music, shopping, workaholic, studyaholic, prescription medication, fighting/violence, food and eating.

We take sleeping pills at night to sleep, and then drink caffeine and energy drinks all day long to get us through our workday.

We are a society of sedation and quick “fixes.”

But we cannot selectively numb.

When we sedate we deaden pain and discomfort, and in that process we also deaden feelings of joy, love, and peace.

A New Path:

Every day we are given a new choice

A new chance to choose our own path – to choose a new path instead of the one crumbling before us.

A choice to create and expand instead of shrink.

A chance to choose Purpose instead of Sacrifice

A chance to choose Possibility instead of Suppression and Shame

A chance to choose Production instead of Scarcity and Entitlement

And a chance to choose Passion instead of Sedation

There is a new possibility.

A revolution of change and consciousness through creation.

A new consciousness that comes from Purpose, Possibility, Production and Passion – and when you combine those for things you are able to stand in a place of truth and power.

Certainty and power that can only come from creating your own path, and knowing and living your truth.

What path are you choosing to create today?

Red pill or blue pill? Stay asleep or wake up?

That ability and power to create change is in me, and it is in you.

And if you have felt that you were meant to do and be more than you are doing, or that there was something out there that was more for you, or that there was something bigger than you that you wanted to be a part of….then you already know what I am talking about.

If you are waking up to the idea of creating your path, then I welcome you.

The first step is to wake up and recognize who you really are and what your core purpose is.

I’d love to hear your comments – what is that path you are on right now? Where is it leading you?

And what path do you choose to create today? What do those first steps look like for you?

I remember sitting and watching Tony Hseih, CEO of Zappos, speaking at the SANG (Speakers and Authors Networking Group) conference in LA about the core foundation of why his company was so successful. He said, “Our goal at Zappos is for our employees to think of their work not as a job or career, but as a calling.”

As he said that, I couldn’t help but think to myself about the “job” I had, and the “money” I had made—but what was my calling? And how could I live that calling every day?

Sure, I had made a lot of money selling products and building businesses—and I had lost a lot of money too. Growing up, I had watched my dad spinning his wheels, working for corporation after corporation. He would fix all the problems in his department and perfect it to the point where he had worked himself out of a job. Every two years the cycle would begin again: He would find a new job, make his department absolutely excellent, and suddenly the corporation would assume they no longer needed him.

Not only did I see the pain and worry in his face every time this cycle ended, but I experienced that pain with him, at a very young age. Of course, we all know where my dad was coming from. He wanted to find a “job” or a “career” where there was security, fulfillment, and no frustration. Instead, he was hopping from job and career, attempting to “work the system” and finding that the system was actually working him.

Well, that’s what I grew up observing—and I made a promise to myself that I would never be in that same position. I would always control my future by owning my own business.

I was a very bad employee because I would always challenge the status quo in any company and tell them that they could be more productive if they did things differently. Established companies don’t like hearing that from a 19- or 22-year-old kid.

Have you ever done something that drains every ounce of your energy? While in college I spent some time working with the fund-raising department. Just a mere two to three hours a day speaking with alumni about donations to their alma mater felt more like a torturous and drawn-out 20 hours! I couldn’t wait to get out of there, because it was a huge energy drain. Why?

Simply because I wasn’t expressing my core talents and purpose through those activities.

On the other hand, when I started coaching, teaching, and working with entrepreneurs, I could go on and on for hours and it felt like minutes. Time just flew by, and I gained incredible energy, standing in a place of power aligned with my core purpose and talents.

Desperately wanting to blaze my own path, I began to try things on my own. I found myself living on credit cards with over $100,000 in debt as I invested in myself to lift my business off the ground. This investing came in the form of courses, mentoring, and overall learning of the strategies and mechanics of running my own business.

Don’t think for a second that this was glamorous, either. Owning my own business had its own set of risks and stresses. There were days when I would talk to my wife to ask whether she should get another job or if I should simply give up and go get a “real job.” But I knew that simply wasn’t me!

That investment in myself has ultimately paid off. Today I work when I want and where I want. I take weeks off at a time, traveling and spending time with my wife and three kids. In fact, we just returned from 10 days in Maui, and we’re planning a 12-month sabbatical in New Zealand and Australia.

After years of dedication, I have finally built a team and business that grows and makes money even when I’m not around. And I love the work that I do—working with young entrepreneurs to grow their online businesses, so they don’t have to get a “real job” or play the infinite game of “the system.”

Because the system is broken! You know that and I know that. During the numerous years when my dad should have started his own business, he spent working a couple years for one corporation and then another. He was good at what he did and he loved what he did. So what was he doing wrong? My dad needed to do it in a market where he could work for himself, or even better, create a business that worked for him.

Yet he never took that step because he was preoccupied with the fear of providing for his family, just like many of you are today. We all want security. And we’re all taught that the corporate world offers that system of security. Funny enough, my dad is proof of how broken that system is. Starting over and over again at a new corporate position doesn’t sound very secure, does it?

Today I can happily say that my dad has developed his own company over the last 10 years—finally! It was an honor when he called me the other day and thanked me for encouraging him to take that first, scary step. He has never been happier, truly doing the work that he loves and making a big difference with the companies he works with. My dad is truly living his calling and core purpose. The same opportunity and possibility exists for you right now, today.

We’re taught at a young age to look outward for knowledge, in books, in the Internet, even in other, smarter, people. We’re taught that the answers are always outside us.

Think about this dynamic paradigm shift, just for a moment: you have value within you, right now. When you share your talents, you create value for other people. And in case you’re in doubt, you should know that there are people all over the world who desperately need what you have to share.

All of us have a core purpose—a unique set of talents, strengths, passions, and experiences to share and create value in the world.

How do you discover and find out what your core purpose is? What is the value that you have to share with the world?

As I coach people through this process, I have found that that the core purpose within them lies where their passions, talents, and experiences intersect. It’s the sweet spot, where we experience the ultimate success, purpose, and fulfillment. It’s where we can wake up every day, excited to create value and share our personal truth with the world.

These are just a few questions I ask my coaching students as the starting line to find their core purpose. I want you to begin this journey today.

What are your top three strengths?

Are you a dedicated leader? Good at teaching others? A fantastic writer? The best networker you know? Love to promote a party, idea, service to your friends? Good at closing a sale?

What are your talents?

Are you an expert at wiring your home? A great basketball player? Uncanny with numbers? The master at word-smithing? The creator of unforgettable events that bring people together?

What are your passions?

What is something you can completely lose track of time and space doing? Does it feel productive, natural, and uplifting? Why do you like it so much? Do others have a passion for the same thing? What would you do all day long even if you weren’t getting paid to do it?

What do you do better than anyone else in the world?

Can you motivate anyone, no matter what the circumstances? Design the coolest websites in the fastest amount of time? Are you an expert at creating awesome videos or teaching and speaking in front of groups? What is so easy to you that you could do it in your sleep and still be the best at it?

What are your experiences?

What life experiences have you had that you could use to teach, inspire or assist someone else going through the same situation? Are there problems that you have been able to solve which you could share the answer with someone else? Take some of your answers from above and write down the most poignant discoveries you have made in experiencing any of these strengths or talents.

What is your personal “Why”?

There’s a reason why you like to do what you do, and why you just know that you’re supposed to be sharing it with others through your business efforts. Ponder it for a moment, and write it down.

Knowing your core purpose and strengths also requires acknowledging that there are some things in this life that you are not good at and things that you do not enjoy doing—and this is as equally important for you to know. Because when you are doing activities that are not in alignment with your core purpose and strengths, you are standing and operating outside your certainty. Standing outside your certainty can, and will, drain you of your power.

Remember, it’s not about “What do you want to be when you grow up?”—that’s the wrong question.

The right question to ask is, “What is your calling? What unique gifts and talents do you have to share and bless the world with? What is the contribution you can make by living, expressing, and sharing your core purpose with the world?”

And more important than knowing your calling, it’s about living, sharing, and expressing your core purpose and inner truth every day. When you do this, you can stand in that place of certainty and power.

I knew that my calling was to end the pattern of 9-to-5 game playing in everyone’s lives. Working through my personal observations and experiences, today I not only end that pattern in other people’s lives, but I’m living proof of beating the system.

So ask yourself, “How can I express my talents and core purpose starting right now and start living the life I was meant to live and making the contribution I was meant to make?”
